# 30527: Toll Free verification rejection - Business Registration Number is Missing or Invalid

Log Type: TWILIO

Log Level: ERROR

## Description

This error occurs when the Business Registration Number fields in your Toll-Free Verification submission are missing, invalid, or cannot be validated against the business information you submitted. Business registration details are required for all business types except `SOLE_PROPRIETOR`, and the registration data must align with the legal business record.

### Possible causes

* You did not provide `businessRegistrationNumber`, `businessRegistrationAuthority`, or `businessRegistrationCountry` for a business type other than `SOLE_PROPRIETOR`.
* The legal business name in your submission does not exactly match the name associated with the registration number in official records. For US entities, this should match the IRS CP 575 or 147C letter. ([help.twilio.com](https://help.twilio.com/articles/38266268244507))
* The registration number is not valid for the selected authority or region, such as an EIN that is not a valid 9-digit number or a non-US registration number that was not issued by a local or national business authority. ([help.twilio.com](https://help.twilio.com/articles/38266268244507))
* You submitted a trade name or DBA as the primary business name, but did not provide the legally registered business name and `doingBusinessAs` information correctly. ([help.twilio.com](https://help.twilio.com/articles/38266268244507))
* The EIN was recently issued and is not yet verifiable. According to the [IRS Employer ID Numbers guidance](https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/employer-id-numbers), a newly assigned EIN can take up to two weeks to pass the IRS Taxpayer ID Number (TIN) Matching Program, so a correct number can still fail validation during that period.

### Possible solutions

* If your rejected Toll-Free Verification is eligible for resubmission, edit the request, remove `Business Registration Number`, `Business Registration Authority`, `Business Registration Country`, and `Business Type`, then resubmit. ([help.twilio.com](https://help.twilio.com/articles/9321443984155))
* If you are submitting or correcting BRN data, enter your exact legal business name as it appears in your official registration records. Do not abbreviate it, change punctuation, or substitute a DBA for the legal entity name. ([help.twilio.com](https://help.twilio.com/articles/38266268244507))
* Verify that the registration number, registration authority, and registration country match your official business documents. For US businesses, use a valid 9-digit EIN. For businesses outside the US, use the official registration number issued by the appropriate authority in the country of registration. ([help.twilio.com](https://help.twilio.com/articles/38266268244507))
* If your business does not have a business registration number because it is a sole proprietorship, set `businessType` to `SOLE_PROPRIETOR`. ([help.twilio.com](https://help.twilio.com/articles/38266268244507))
* If the EIN was issued recently, wait until it can pass the [IRS TIN Matching Program](https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/employer-id-numbers) (up to two weeks after assignment) before resubmitting the verification request.
* If your information is correct and validation still fails, contact support with your verification ID, phone number, and supporting registration documents so the submission can be reviewed. ([help.twilio.com](https://help.twilio.com/articles/38266268244507))
