# Preheader

*Marketing*. The short summary text that follows the subject line when you view an email in your inbox.

To tip you off on an email's contents before you open it, many mobile, desktop, and web email clients provide these summaries.

To increase engagement, many senders use preheaders in their email marketing campaigns.
