# Alloy Flow Source

## Source Info

* The Alloy Flow Source is an **Event Cloud** source. This means that it sends data as events, which are behaviors or occurrences tied to a user and a point in time. Data from these sources can be loaded into your Segment warehouses, and **also** sent to Segment streaming destinations. [Alloy](https://runalloy.com/flow/) is a specialized no-code automation platform, built with e-commerce businesses in mind. It seamlessly integrates various applications, paving the way for a streamlined shopping experience and efficient operational workflows.

Combining Alloy's automation prowess with Segment's data collection and distribution capabilities, businesses can capture and react to real-time customer activities across all digital interfaces. Whether it's a website visit, a mobile app interaction, or server-side processes, Segment simplifies data collection. With Alloy in the mix, these interactions can automatically trigger tailored workflows, connecting apps, and enhancing customer experiences.

Using Segment, the interaction data captured can be sent directly to marketing, product, and analytics tools. The integration with Alloy means that this data can also be utilized to drive automation, ensuring consistent and personalized user interactions across all touchpoints.

## Getting started

To connect Alloy as a Segment source, complete the steps in both Segment and Alloy.

### In Segment

1. From your workspace's [Sources catalog page](https://app.segment.com/goto-my-workspace/sources/catalog) click **Add Source**.
2. Search for "Alloy Automation" in the Sources Catalog, select it, and click **Add Source**.
3. Give the source a name, for example Alloy\_Prod. The name is used in the Segment interface. Click add source to save your settings.
4. Copy the Write key from the Segment UI.

### In Alloy

1. Set up the Segment block to enable Alloy to forward data to Segment. If you're unfamiliar with how to do this, [the Alloy documentation](https://docs.runalloy.com/docs) or [support team](mailto:contact@runalloy.com) can guide you through the process.
2. To take a hands-off approach, request that the Alloy team set up the Segment integration on your behalf.

## Types of calls to Segment

Alloy's integration with Segment supports two call types:

* Track captures the actions users take within your e-commerce platform and sends the information to Segment.
* Identify recognizes and forwards user identities, helping Segment collate data on individual users across sessions.
