# Underused Mail Setting Retirement

To improve the efficiency of its email delivery infrastructure, Twilio SendGrid retired several underused mail settings.

## Mail settings

The following table lists each retired setting and the recommended alternative.

| Mail setting                                                        | Alternative                                                                                                |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Plain Content** disables converting plain text emails to HTML.    | To maintain open and click tracking, send as HTML. Send plain text emails without open and click tracking. |
| **Sections** customizes sections of an email content per recipient. | Use Twilio SendGrid [transactional templates][] with handlebars syntax through the v3 API.                 |
| **BCC** automatically BCCs an email address for every email sent.   | Add a bcc as a [personalization][] in each API call.                                                       |
| **Spam Checker** checks outbound messages for spam content.         | Maximize deliverability with [Email Testing][].                                                            |
| **Drop feature** tests email processing.                            | Use [Sandbox Mode][]. Send a test email without delivering the email to any recipients.                    |
| **DomainKey** signs emails.                                         | Use [DKIM][], the standard for signing emails.                                                             |
